Sensitivity

Flipkart.com is the new rage in the Indian Online Marketplace these days, offering a splendid range of books and huge discounts and have now diversified to the extent of selling kitchen knives (well, almost!). Who would think of webstore offering 'Cash on Delivery'?! And delivery for free. Flipkart did, and in my opinion, that clinched it. They have now raised the bar to Rs. 200, though. But the service is efficient and delivery amazingly quick.

Human mind can't keep showering praises for long, it would seem. Or there is perhaps a limit to human efficiency and excellence. In any case, so flipkart botched up delivery of two books for almost a month now, and today I got a call for the n'th time. This time round, I replied "boliye.." ( perhaps because Hindi is in the air in IPR ) and boy!, the caller ( speaking in English ) was immediately on the alert, asking me to hold on a second before transferring to a ( sweet sounding ) lady speaking in Hindi!

Now, that is called as Sensitivity!

Dream-stealers

One Monty Roberts, "when he was in school, his teacher gave the class assignment to write about what they wanted to do when they grew up. Monty wrote that he wanted to own his own 200-acre ranch and raise Thoroughbred racehorses. His teacher gave him an F and explained that the grade reflected that he deemed his dream unrealistic. No boy who was living in a camper on the back of a pickup truck would ever be able to amass enough money to buy a ranch, purchase the breeding stock, and pay the necessary salaries for ranch hands. When he offered Monty the chance of rewriting his paper for a higher grade, Monty told him, "You keep the F; I'm keeping my dream." "

Back in July 2007, when Uli was telling me he was going to give me F for Plasma Physics I and Plasma Physics II, I guess my subconscious replied "You keep the F's, I'm keeping my Lethargy." Man, that was obliviousness at it's height!
